Jetpack for WordPress is a great plug-in, one of its most commonly used featured by Flothemes would be the Widget Visibility module, this allows you to select where your widgets are shown, and where they aren’t shown, great if you want to create unique widget areas for different pages.
To use Jetpack you must sign up for a WordPress.com account, this is separate from your privately hosted WordPress installation, you can sign up here. Once you have signed up, remember to keep the details as you will need them to activate your Jetpack plug-in.
Step 1 – Download and install Jetpack
You can download Jetpack here, or search for it in your WordPress backend (if you do this you won’t have to follow the rest of this step). Once you have downloaded the .zip file, go into your WordPress backend, and then go to plug-ins, then add new (top left), choose your file, jetpack.zip and upload.
Step 2 – Activate your plug-in
Activate Jetpack, then you will want to sign in using the WordPress.com account details that you created earlier, if you haven’t created a WordPress.com account yet, sign up here. Once this is done you will be able to use all of Jetpacks great features.
Step 3 – Activate the Widget Visibility module
Go into Jetpack, it should be the top left in your WordPress back end:
Then click on the button to view all 27 Jetpack features, in here scroll down until you see Widget Visibility, and activate:
Step 4 – Show and Hide your widget areas
Go to appearance > widgets, and you will notice that all your current widgets will have a new visibility button:
When you press the button you will be able to start adding options to show/hide the widget area on certain pages:
Each visibility rule is handled separately, so you can add a combination if required.
You can read more on using Jetpacks Widget Visibility module from their documentation here.
NOTE! Jetpack automatically activates multiple modules, you should check carefully to see which you require as having many activated can slow down site performance.
